The four quarters of Jerusalem

Just when I thought that nothing else would impress me much on earth, I went to Jerusalem during the Catholic Holy Week and magic happened. I actually spent a week in Israel between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (and everywhere else in between).  However, nothing prepared me for the incredible impact that Jerusalem would leave on […]

FILING OF THE TEETH CEREMONY

The Tooth Filing Ceremony or Potong Gigi as it is known in Bali is a beautiful ritual where the canine teeth are filed down in a symbolic gesture of removing “the evil from the fangs”. I was extremely lucky to be extended a very rare invitation as a “Bule” (a white foreigner is referred to […]

My one week in Mauritius which is 2500km off the South East Coast of Africa –  was an amazing experience.   Mauritius is famous for its palm trees, sparkling crystal waters, beaches, coloured sands and beautiful warm people. And the […]

Corona Virus and Your Travel Plans

Hi, I’m Mariella.  I am in solitary confinement. Isolation. Self-quarantine. Call it what you want – but it is a black quiet void of nothingness. For the past, 40 years I have never stayed in the same country for longer than a month at a stretch. I have been an executive traveller all my life […]

24 hrs in Singapore

I am on a visa run from Bali.  I need to get the closest airport out of Indonesia and I have 24 hours to kill. Where else to go for a day if not to decadent Singapore? Singapore ticks all the boxes. It is only a two-hour flight from Bali with a multitude of airlines […]

Meet Mariella

Mariella Scerri

At age 55 I retired from my executive life and decided to travel and blog. I have traveled all my life for work and now I want to revisit these countries as a female flying solo and bring the world to other women who travel on their own safely and in style.

My travel mode is not the back-pack life but the curious and explorative type.

I am a foodie and a bon vivant – so expect to see a lot of bubbles and restaurant reviews along the way.

If you want to know more about me just click HERE
